TIME TO BLOSSOM’S 2011 YOUNG WOMEN’S CONFERENCE

Registrations are now open for Time to Blossom’s Young Women’s Conference for girls age 11-16. Girls can register for either the June 20-24th or June 27-July 1st session. This year’s conferences will feature a host of presenters, including John Bytheway, American Idol’s Brooke White, singer Alex Boye, Olympian Lacey Nymeyer, EFY speaker Brad Wilcox, and others. Workshops during the week will cover everything from self-esteem to poise, and from service to testimony building. Activities will include a JesterZ improv comedy night, a fashion show, and more! Resonate Dance is a family based studio that promises to always keep costumes modest and movement appropriate so you never have to worry when your child is in our care! SUMMER MUSIC WORKSHOP- Its time to register for a super time this summer as the Ambassadors of LIGHT and StarLight Group presents: AOL Entertainers Workshop.
This is a great activity for all young people, family members, friends or neighbors.

June 20-23 for younger kids 11-13 Limited to 24 spots (Great for those interested in Starlight Kids this fall)

July 18-21 for 16-18 -Limited to 20 spots (especially designed for LIGHT and AOL fall 2011)

grouping them by age gives the entertainers a better chance to make good friends.
This years workshops will feature some very strong choreography and stage presence. Vocals will also be stressed. Each rehearsal will be well planned and challenging. At weeks end, a short performance will be held, in the evening, featuring what was learned during the week. Entertainers will receive t-shirts as well as plenty of fun. LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY AUDITIONS Auditions for Fall 2011 are fast approaching. If you love performing; if you enjoy bringing happiness to people; if you want to do some travel and work with an ensemble of high caliber young people, then LIGHT Entertainment Company is something for you to consider. In 2011 LIGHT Entertainment Company will sponsor RiSE, LIGHT, Ambassadors of LIGHT and Sounds. The cost this year will be reduced considerably:

RiSE is 24 young women 14-17 years old.

LIGHT is 16-20 young men and women 15-18 years old

Ambassadors of LIGHT are 10-12 strong, 17-19 years old.

“Sounds” is a brand new group this year made up of 3-5 guys and 3-6 girls that are18-22 yrs old advanced vocalists (college or high school seniors)that perform 100% A Cappella. Auditions for all groups include performing a Broadway musical number, learning a few dance combinations and an interview. DANCE TEACHER NEEDED - Resonate Dance is looking to hire another dance teacher. Some or all of the following experience is needed: Ballet, Jazz, lyrical, hip-hop and/or ballroom. Must be willing to commit long term, must work well with children and people (experience teaching children preferred), must have high standards and morals and support our stance on modest costuming and clean/appropriate dance movements, must love to dance and love to choreograph, must be patient yet enthusiastic. This is a very part-time position (1-3 hrs a week) starting in Fall. We are willing to train, however we only pay for time spent actually teaching in the classroom. NEW TESTAMENT PRINT AVAILABLE FROM LOCAL ARTIST- Howard Lyon is an artist that lives in Mesa. For much of his career he has painted dragons and trolls or scenes from science fiction. His work can be found in products from Dungeons and Dragon’s books, World of Warcraft cards, Magic the Gathering and Star Wars. He studied Illustration at Brigham Young University and has studied art in Italy, France and most recently at the Grand Central Academy in New York.Recently, he has taken on a commission to paint a scene from the New Testament of Christ calming the tempest. The painting is in oils on linen at 50 x 80 inches titled “From Fear to Faith”. More of Howard’s work can be found at his website, www.howardlyon.com. Prints of his painting are for sale. Position for Show Choir Director Kirk's Studio for the Performing Arts is the Valley's largest studio for music instruction with three locations: Scottsdale, Mesa and Desert Ridge. We have an immediate opening for a Show Choir Director at the Mesa Studio. This individual would direct and coach the vocal training as well as do most of the choreography and dance instruction. Guest instructors or choreographers could be brought in from time to time. The director would be in charge of two groups: the first for ages 11-14 and the second for ages 14-18. Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7 for the younger group and 7-8:30 for the older kids. The older group will be a competitive Show Choir. There is ample parental support and parents are willing to volunteer to help wherever needed. Rehearsals are held at Kirk's Studio for the Performing Arts at 7440 E. Main St. in Mesa (formerly La Musique). The Show Choirs perform at a variety of venues and have a small tour every year as well. Compensation is very competitive and depends on experience. Mesa Easter Pageant April 1–2 and 7-11 at 8pm on the Lawn north of the Mesa Temple Visitor’s Center, 525 E. Main St in Mesa, there will be full English productions of Jesus the Christ with a cast of over 400. FREE ADMISSION. No tickets are required. CONCERTS/SHOWS/EVENTS

Christmas concerts- Don’t forget every evening in December at 7pm on the south side of the Visitor Center at the LDS Temple there is a wonderful ½ hour program. Dress warm as it can get chilly sitting there. You will enjoy the spirit and the light display too. On Main St. just East of Mesa Dr.

Christmas Concert- Sunday, December 14th at 6 & 8 pm the Gilbert Greenfield Stake will have their Annual Christmas Concert featuring Choir, Soloists, Orchestra and the Sonoran Brass Quintet. Come early for seats and bring a neighbor to 2740 S. Lindsay Rd. in Gilbert.

Sing Along Messiah- Sunday, December 14th at 7pm, the Citrus Heights Stake will host a sing along Messiah with Choir and Orchestra. Messiah Music will be available but bring your own score if you have one. Questions call Linda Petersen, (480) 827-8088. The address is 2549 North 32nd Street in Mesa.

Christmas music at the Post Office- Vocalists, dancers, ensembles, duets. trios, quartets, pianists, piano/flute, a cappella groups, school or children's groups, violin/piano, harpists, guitar/singer(s) and jazz ensembles;You are all invited to perform during the Christmas season to bring a little cheer to the folks waiting in long lines at the downtown Mesa Post office on Center St. between 1st St and University. Choir Tour Noteable ? Travel, LLC, is proud to announce our upcoming tour for July 2009: IRELAND, under the direction of Dr. Cory Evans. Dr. Evans is a wonderful addition to our program, and we know this tour will be immensely successful.The tour will start on July 9, 2009, and will last 10 days, traveling through Dublin, Waterford, Blarney, Killarney, Dingle and Limerick. Members of the group will have the option to extend their tour an additional three days to Galway, under our direction. group will be capped at approximately 48 travelers, including non-singers.30 of the participants must be vocalists, this allows for a maximum of 18 non-singers to register. They are in their 2nd season in Paradise Valley and now booking for large or small events for this Christmas Season. New Book, CD and DVD Release- The “Reflections of Christ” exhibit. with Photography by Mark Mabry, started here at the Mesa Visitor's Center and is now traveling across the country (Washington DC Visitors Center, Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake, Idaho, Canada, Utah, California, and more.) On October 25, Deseret Book released three new products from Reflections of Christ: 1) A book containing all of the photography from the exhibit, 2) A 12 track CD of the music produced by Jason Barney for the exhibit (featuring Clyde Bawden, Freddie Ashby, Alex Boye, Catherine Papworth, Melynda Brimhall, the Alston Sisters, Brandon Brown, Hope Shepherd, and a great local choir), and 3) A DVD containing a slide show of the images to "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" and a documentary of the making of Reflections of Christ. WHOLESOME DANCE COMPANY RezoN8 Dance: Interested in a Rezon8 Dance JR? I've had several requests to start a younger kids group/class (ages 7-14). Please email me if interested and if interest is big enough to start one, we will start it ASAP (See website below to see what we do). RezoN8 Dance is a fun and clean youth group (ages 15-30) of beginner to intermediate dancers. We learn choreographed formation routines of Latin, tango, waltz, swing, comedy, lifts, hip hop, theatrical, etc and perform them at community, business, charity, and church (ward and stake) events. We can also teach group dance instruction at events. We have summer, fall and winter sessions. New members are welcome to come and try us out at the beginning of those sessions. Currently the team meets every thurs 7:30-9:30 pm at Jazzercise of Mesa (Brown and Greenfield on McClellan) and every Sat 9am-noon at The Dance Barn at Mckellips and Lindsay.
